Giulio Pellizzari came out on top against new race leader Isaac del Toro in the finale, delivering a second consecutive stage victory for Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe at the 2026 Deutschland Tour.
The stage profile between Herxheim and Bad Dürkheim promised a relentless day of climbing and descending. Although the individual climbs were relatively short, more than 3,000 metres of elevation made the queen stage a demanding day of racing.
For Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe, the main focus was on fighting for the stage win. After Alessio Magagnotti’s victory yesterday, the German UCI WorldTeam was determined to carry that momentum into today’s stage and put its faith in Giulio Pellizzari’s climbing abilities.
The decisive move came with 35 kilometres to go, when Isaac del Toro attacked on the climb to Rotsteig. Pellizzari did not respond immediately. Instead, he rode at his own pace, gradually increased his effort and caught the Mexican shortly afterwards.
“I know Isaac pretty well and I know that on two-minute climbs he’s just on another level. Following him directly would have been a mistake. So I rode at my own pace without taking the risk of exploding. I went as fast as I could to the top and caught him on the descent.”

The pace at the front remained high on the first finishing lap around Bad Dürkheim. The duo dropped their companion and headed into the second and decisive lap together. In the sprint between the two friends, Pellizzari secured the stage victory.
“Yesterday we were incredibly happy with Alessio’s win. Today we wanted to win again straight away. The collaboration with Isaac worked really well – he was focused on the GC, while I was going for the stage. My personal goal this season was to win more races. That makes today’s victory even more special, and I want to thank my teammates and the entire team for making it possible.”
