Just moments before the start of Stage 1 of the Tour of the Alps, San Lorenzo Dorsino – San Lorenzo Dorsino, on Monday 21 April, the race caravan received the sorrowful news of the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis.
As a sign of respect for such a profound loss for the religious and civil world, the entire Tour of the Alps caravan observed a minute of silence before the official start of the opening stage.
The Tour of the Alps’ activities on the day have continuedc in a tone of sobriety, without musical entertainment.
A minute of silence in memory of Pope Francis will be observed at the start of all five stages of the 2025 edition of the Tour of the Alps.
