The Contador Foundation and the Red Cross Join Forces to Fight Against Stroke

The Alberto Contador Foundation and the Regional Assembly of the Red Cross in Pinto and Valdemoro begin a joint path to continue advancing in the prevention of stroke and its consequences through awareness and information. Carlos Lúquez León, president of the Regional Assembly of Pinto and Valdemoro, and Francisco Javier Contador, representing the Contador Foundation, staged the signing of this agreement this Friday.

Through this cooperation, both institutions begin a profitable collaboration for the organization of activities, although not exclusively. At the forefront of this work synergy, the upcoming launch of a series of talks on stroke, its incidence and its means of prevention in which the bicycle will have a specific section as an ideal tool to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

These talks will take place in the new facilities of the Pinto and Valdemoro Red Cross Assembly in the town of Pinto, a 600m2 venue on a single floor inaugurated in the last third of 2023 on land donated by the Pinto City Council in mid-2020. 2016 that allowed us to combine and increase spaces, unify the relief and emergency base and have versatile facilities in accordance with the needs of the entity.

“For the Red Cross in general, and the regional assembly of Pinto-Valdemoro in particular, it is a source of pride and we are very excited to begin this joint journey with the Alberto Contador Foundation. And it is because of the shared values and objectives, which encourage and motivate us to undertake common actions that we believe can have a relevant impact on the dissemination and awareness of issues related to the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits, as well as greater knowledge. of a problem like stroke among the population we serve,” explains Lúquez León.

“Our objective as a Foundation is twofold: on the one hand, to raise awareness about the stroke and on the other, to give back to cycling everything that it has given to Alberto in his life. The sporting field is very consolidated in terms of notoriety, because it is a sport that is more than a century old. Knowledge of the problems posed by stroke, its symptoms and its most reliable means of prevention is something that is still in process. Much progress has been made, but there is never enough. With this collaboration with the Red Cross we are going to take very important steps to deepen this knowledge, and also to do so in very specific geographical areas neighboring our closest radius of action,” explains Fran Contador.
