Road to Barcelona: Tailored plans for Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz

With two months to go until the Tour de France starts in Barcelona, Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe wingmen Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz enter this key preparation phase with targeted programs.

Remco Evenepoel will spend the coming weeks without racing. Contrary to the initial plan, he will skip the Tour Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes. Instead, his June schedule will focus on a balanced mix of recovery, course recons and specific training sessions. Prior to that, he will complete an altitude training camp in May.
“We decided together with Remco to take a break from racing after an intense spring. The goal is for him to arrive in Barcelona completely fresh. After analyzing his 25 race days, we see greater benefit in a balanced alternative program than in adding further race load.”

Florian Lipowitz secured second place overall at the Tour de Romandie, which concluded yesterday.

He will enter a short recovery block towards the end of the week, with full regeneration the priority after a demanding run of stage races in recent weeks. Later in May, Lipowitz will begin his altitude training camp. From there, he will head straight to the Tour of Slovenia, which will serve as his final race test ahead of the Tour de France. A short training block is planned the following week.
“Florian has been extremely consistent across his last three stage races. We achieved the desired performance stimulus this spring, and most importantly, he gained a lot of confidence in the path we’ve mapped out together. We will now continue on this path with patience and consistency over the next two months.”
