Paul wins stage four and reclaims the overall lead after a demanding day of racing.
16-Oct-2026:
Paul Magnier returned to winning ways at the Tour of Guangxi, sprinting to victory on Friday’s fourth stage ahead of Cees Bol and Max Kanter. The result also put the Frenchman back at the top of the general classification.
His second success of this year’s edition brought another milestone: with seven stage victories, Paul now stands alone as the race’s most successful stage winner, surpassing Fernando Gaviria’s previous record of six.
It was a victory earned the hard way, as after being dropped on an easier climb, Paul had to fight his way back to the peloton before turning his attention to the finish. His teammates then delivered another strong lead-out, allowing him to unleash his sprint and complete an impressive turnaround.
“I’m super happy, especially because today was a really hard day. I want to thank my teammates and the team for their confidence. I was dropped earlier in the stage, but I managed to get back to the bunch and refocus on the final sprint. My lead-out did a great job again, and I could launch my sprint and finish it off. It feels really good to be winning again and to take back the overall lead,” said Paul.
With two stages remaining, Magnier heads into the weekend with another victory and the leader’s red jersey.
