In just over a year’s time, France is set to host the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc, the biggest cycling event ever staged and the most significant sporting event to take place in the region since the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Games. For the first time, 20 UCI World Championships will be brought together within a single event, bringing together more than 15,000 athletes across Haute-Savoie and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines — from the world’s greatest champions to the best amateur riders.
The competition schedule, unveiled today by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and the Organising Committee, has been designed as a continuous celebration of cycling. Events from several disciplines, with headline moments, will feature on every day’s program in order to ensure continuous media coverage and enable the two million spectators expected to discover the full richness of world cycling, from BMX Racing to road cycling, and including track, mountain bike, gravel, para cycling and cycling esports.
The first week will launch the event with highlights including the gravel events in Châtel – Porte du Soleil on 26 and 27 August, the BMX Freestyle Flatland finals in Cluses on 26 August, the BMX Racing finals (venue to be confirmed) on 27 August, and the mountain bike downhill finals in Les Gets on 27 and 28 August. The week will culminate in one of the most anticipated moments of the Championships: the Men Elite road race in Sallanches – Domancy – Pays du Mont-Blanc on 29 August, on a course that will include the legendary Domancy climb, the scene of Bernard Hinault’s UCI world title in 1980.
The second week will build on this momentum, beginning with the road time trials around Lake Annecy on 30 August with the Junior individual events, followed by the Elite races on 1 September. The action continues with the mountain bike cross-country Olympic events in Les Gets from 2 to 4 September, trials in Sallanches – Pays du Mont-Blanc from 30 August to 3 September, and the BMX Freestyle Park finals in Cluses on 4 September. Throughout the week, indoor disciplines will also take center stage, with cycling esports in’Evian on 31 August and 1 September, cycle speedway on 30 August, and artistic cycling and cycle-ball in La Roche-sur-Foron from 3 to 5 September. The 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships will conclude with the Women Elite road race on 5 September in Sallanches – Domancy – Pays du Mont-Blanc.
Meanwhile, the track cycling events will be held across three separate sessions at the Vélodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the venue that hosted track cycling at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Junior events will get things underway from 16 to 20 August, before giving way to the Elite events which will take place from 26 to 30 August. The para cycling track events will take place from 1 to 5 September.
The biggest stars of cycling brought together
An exceptional event calls for an exceptional line-up. The 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc will offer a unique opportunity to see the biggest stars from every cycling discipline brought together in the same region and at the same time.
This edition will also open the door to unprecedented sporting challenges. Thanks to the grouping of the 20 UCI World Championships, some athletes may choose to compete across several disciplines, such as Mathieu van der Poel, who races on the road, in mountain bike and in gravel, Filippo Ganna, a world-class reference in both the individual pursuit on the track and the individual time trial on the road, and Lotte Kopecky, who regularly shines on both road and track.
French athletes could also take advantage of this opportunity. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot has already demonstrated her versatility by winning UCI world titles on the road, on gravel and in mountain bike cross-country before going on to triumph in the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. Benjamin Thomas, Olympic Champion in the omnium (track), as well as Victoire Berteau and Marion Borras, are also among the athletes capable of competing at the highest level across several disciplines.
This versatility has long been a hallmark of para cycling. Many athletes excel both on the road and on the track, such as Alexandre Léauté, 25-time para cycling UCI World Champion, and the promising Heidi Gaugain. The para cycling schedule has also been designed to encourage this double participation: following the road competitions in Rumilly, athletes will be able to travel to the National Velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines to compete in the track events.
Inclusion and gender equality at the heart of the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc
The schedule also reflects a strong commitment to placing inclusion and diversity at the heart of the event. Para cycling events will take place throughout the 13 days of competition. It is the para cycling road mixed team relay, on August 25 in Rumilly, that will open the elite medal count.
Perfectly balanced in its sporting program, this edition will feature as many women’s events as men’s, confirming the ambition to make the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc a benchmark for equality in cycling. Women’s events will be spread throughout the Championships. Another strong symbol is that the Women Elite road race will bring the Championships to a close in Sallanches – Domancy – Pays du Mont-Blanc.

From August 24 to September 5, 2027, France and Haute-Savoie will host the second edition of the UCI Cycling World Championships, an extraordinary event bringing together 20 UCI World Championships across 16 iconic venues: Annecy, Châtel – Portes du Soleil, Cluses, Doussard, La Clusaz, La Roche-sur-Foron, Les Gets, Morillon – Grand Massif, Rumilly, Sallanches – Domancy, – Pays du Mont-Blanc, Samoëns – Grand Massif, Saint-Pierre-en-Faucigny, Thônes, Vétraz-Monthoux – Annemasse, Evian-les-Bains and the National Velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (78).
More than 15,000 athletes from the 206 UCI member federations will compete for 288 UCI world titles in an event set to make cycling history. This edition will showcase a wide range of cycling disciplines, including Olympic and Paralympic events, while also giving unprecedented visibility to lesser-known disciplines and formats open to amateur riders — a true celebration of cycling, from the highest international level to participation for all.
Designed as an open and unifying event, it places gender equality and inclusion at the heart of its organisation.
