Paul Seixas: “Racing like that is what I love”
“Going for the win with more than a minute’s lead feels really good, and it rewards all the work we put in beforehand. Before the stage started, I had marked this one as a key target, it was the hardest of the week, and we had planned to attack the day after the time trial. The goal was to open up gaps and then manage the race over the long term. My teammates did a great job all day, they positioned me perfectly when it mattered. I didn’t hesitate to attack, the worst thing is being afraid to go for it. Racing like that is what I love, it’s why I ride.”
Key figure: 1’59’’
This is the gap in the general classification between Paul Seixas and his runner-up, Primož Roglič. After only two days of racing, Paul has further solidified his lead at the top of the overall standings.
News: A new record for precocity
With this second victory in two days, Paul becomes the youngest rider to claim back-to-back WorldTour wins. This success was secured after a bold attack 26 kilometers from the finish, allowing him to break away and go solo at the front.
