2013 Tirreno-Adriatico Stage 3

Another rainy day in Tirreno

Third stage of Tirreno-Adriatico started in Indicatore and ended 190 rainy kilometers later in Narni Scalo.

A break dominated the long stage, but it was only a matter of time until the sprinters went for a hectic bunch sprint. On the finish line was Peter Sagan (Canon Dale) the quickest ahead of Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma Quick Step) and André Greipel (Lotto -Belisol).

Saxo-Tinkoff’s riders made it safely through the stage without incident: “It was a dangerous stage. The long distance and the wet roads are a risky cocktail because we can lose concentration. We chose again the safer method. We stuck to the front with a focus not to rush. It succeeded. We retained full concentration and took no chances along the way. Tomorrow, the first big day during which we must be ready. We expect a good result. The team is highly motivated and we must be at the forefront,” says Saxo-Tinkoff’s Italian sports director, Fabrizio Guidi.
