Attention mountain bike die-hards: The Titan Desert returns to its promised land. And for good reason, from May 23-28, 2021, the race will be back in Morocco, where it all began. A welcome return to its roots, which will be dedicated to the original DNA of the event. True to its reputation, this 16th edition promises adventure from start to finish, at the crossroads of sport, community and travel. Participants will savour an amalgam of experiences during the 639kms of the course divided into 5 stages, with 7,629 m of positive elevation gain across the Atlas Mountains and other desert expanses. As has been the custom since the event’s creation, the conclusion of each stage will be a reminder that the “Titan Spirit” goes beyond sport, with moments of sharing and conviviality in the heart of a bivouac awash in local colour and ambiance.
An even more accessible opus
Jean-Paul Sartre wouldn’t mind, but happiness is other people. This philosophy is embodied by the organisers who have no other ambition than to bring together mountain bike enthusiasts from all over the world. Based on this ideal, entries will include several formulas including a “rookie” status for new sponsored participants. That’s not all, an “all-inclusive” pack is now available, and represents a tailor-made solution for participants wishing to set off on an adventure with peace of mind.
Just when you thought that was it … there is more!
In the space of 15 years, the Titan Desert has grown steadily to become one of the leading adventure bike events in the Merzouga region. It is thus on the strength of this success that the event is being emulated, by being offered in a condensed format beyond Morocco. The Titan Series Mexico will thus take its place on the calendar in September 2021. It will be followed by the Titan Series Almería in November and then the Titan Series Saudi Arabia (06- 10/12). These three exotic alternatives could serve as a warm-up prior to the showpiece event: The Titan Desert Morocco.
