After a massive crash 50k from the finish that included the yellow jersey Fabian Cancellara, the race observed a twenty minute neutralization. Dumoulin, Gerrans, and Bonnet were among those who abandoned. Matthews, Oss, Henderson and Vansummeren were able to continue racing.
The neutralization is a very rare occurrence in the Tour. But it was done because this crash was considered “exceptional”.
Racing re-started on the Bohissau climb. Cancellara’s director sportif felt that he was feeling bad and the general consensus was that he suffered like a martyr to finish.
Rodriguez took the summit of the Mur de Huy and Froome has the yellow jersey. He’s a small second ahead of Tony Martin and took time out of his big rivals.
