Levi Leipheimer takes the lead

Levi Leipheimer is the first leader at the Tour of the Gila.  He won the first stage from Silver City, NM to Mogollon.  Tom Danielson finished second, followed by Cesar Grajales.  He hopes it will show what he will have to offer in the upcoming Tour of California.

Fabian Cancellara has decided to sit out the Amstel Gold Race next Sunday after winning Paris Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders this season.  He’s also going to skip Fleche-Wallone and Liege-Bastone-Liege.  He is planning to race the Tour of California in May.
