Lance Update

Lance underwent successful surgery for his broken clavicle which was fractured into 4 pieces.  A stainless steel plate as well as 12 screws were used in the repair, which is more than what’s typical but what was needed in this case.

Lance went home to his Austin house to recuperate.  He’s supposed to rest for about a week and then can start riding on the stationary bike until tests show that his bones have regrown enough to handle the pressure from a road bike.  He may still ride the Giro, at least for training.  It’s looking more certain that he’ll still compete in the Tour de France.

Levi Leipheimer is still leading in the Castille & Leon race in Spain, 16 seconds ahead of teammate Alberto Contador.
