Lance Armstrong out of Giro

Lance Armstrong was involved in a group crash about 20k from the finish at Baltanas during the Castille-et-Leon race in Spain.  He was evacuated to a university hospital in Valladolid.  He has a non-complicated fracture of his right collarbone.  He is now not expecting to participate in the Giro d’Italia, but is still planning to compete in the Tour de France.  Lance is always so careful to avoid crashes and this is the first big crash he’s been involved in.  It’s throwing a big wrench into his training plans for the Tour.  He’ll be returning to the US to recuperate.  Contador said it was too bad as they were looking forward to working together in this race in Spain.
