On the French national day, the first stage in the Alps was on the program of the Tour de France. A big break went clear from the bunch in the first half of the stage and ultimately battled it out for the stage win, while in the bunch all focus was on the mountain top finish on the Grand Colombier. M. Kwiatkowski took the race lead from the break with about 8 km remaining and was able to hold off a flying bunch. BORA – hansgrohe delivered Jai Hindley perfectly at the foot of the last climb before Emanuel Buchmann supported Jai until the final 6km. With 2km remaining, the attacks started in the group of favourites and T.
