The US Government has decided TO join Landis’ whistleblower lawsuit.
They were said to be filing Qui Tam suit papers today to join Floyd Landis’ suit. His suit alleges that the team defrauded the government because they doped while being sponsored by the US Postal Service. Their contract specifically forbade them from doping.
There have been some leaks indicating that those being sued include Armstrong, Bill Stapleton, Bart Knaggs, Thomas Weisel and Johann Bruyneel.
The Federal False Claims Act could enrich Landis who is said to be broke. He could be award one third of any money the government reclaims. Those accused could be fined up to three times the amount. The USPS sponsorship was over $30 million.
