Fabian Cancellara Won the Exciting Duel

A small group of breakaway of four men had a small hole to the field when they came thundering into the most legendary brostenspavé the Arenberg Forest in today’s 254 km Paris-Roubaix. 

At the end of Arenberg, Team Saxo-Tinkoff’s Matti Breschel and Matteo Tosatto, Jonas Aaen and Anders Lund well placed in the first pursuing group which soon was halved. Matti Breschel attacked several times and with 57 kilometers to the finish line, he created a small group with four other riders. but RadioShack was very careful and quickly caught them.

After forcing from Fabian Cancellara only the last escapees remained. Four riders made a hole for the favorite, Fabian Cancellara, who was caught in a pursuing group of nine who were not in a constructive cooperation, while Team Saxo-Tinkoff’s Matti Breschel was in a chase group.  

When the chase group reached sixth last section, Fabian Cancellara and Zdynek Stybar (Omega Pharma Quick Step) attacked.  Following the two Omega Pharma Quick Step riders on the cobblestones were spectators who unfortunately got in the way.  Cancellara increased the pace with Sep Vanmarcke (Blanco), who showed great strength by answering Cancellara’s attack.

In the sprint at the velodrome in Roubaix was the great Swiss who took victory.

Saxo-Tinkoff’s Matti Breschel came to Roubaix in a pursuing group and was number 14. Saxo had four riders in the first group. Matti was fine; he attempted two attacks, which RadioShack had spent their last forces, leaving Fabian Cancellara alone in front. With the goal of top 15, we reached our goal, but of course we get a taste for more, when we sit at the forefront, “said Team Saxo-Tinkoff’s Lars Michaelsen after the race.
