Lance Armstrong was involved in a crash in Tour of California today and is out of the race.  I guess this way he won’t have to answer reporters’ questions about Floyd Landis, at least for the moment! In  the Tour of California, Briton Mark Cavendish won the sprint at Sacramento.

Levi Leipheimer takes the lead

Levi Leipheimer is the first leader at the Tour of the Gila.  He won the first stage from Silver City, NM to Mogollon.  Tom Danielson finished second, followed by Cesar Grajales.  He hopes it will show what he will have to offer in the upcoming Tour of California.

Cancellara

Fabian Cancellara has decided to sit out the Amstel Gold Race next Sunday after winning Paris Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders this season.  He’s also going to skip Fleche-Wallone and Liege-Bastone-Liege.  He is planning to race the Tour of California in May.

Cycling Accidents

Matthias Kessler of Germany was seriously injured in a training accident and is in the hospital.  Also injured was Colombian climber Mauricio Soler Hernandez while he was training in Colombia.  He’s expected to be okay.
