BMC Tour de Suisse Objectives

Dual Objectives For BMC Racing Team At Tour de Suisse

The BMC Racing Team will target stage wins at the Tour de Suisse while also supporting the general classification ambitions of Mathias Frank, who finished sixth a year ago racing in his home country.

Burghardt A Past Stage Winner

Assistant Director Rik Verbrugghe said the team’s roster features a bevy of talent to meet the dual objectives for the nine-day race that begins Saturday. “Mathias is coming out of the Giro in really good shape and ready to do something good here,” Verbrugghe said. “We also have Greg Van Avermaet, Marcus Burghardt and Martin Kohler to go for stage wins.” Burghardt scored a pair of stage wins and won the points classification at this race two years ago, the same year Frank won the mountains classification. Another possible contender for a stage win is Steve Cummings, who said he is fully recovered from the wrist injury he suffered in a crash at the Amgen Tour of California last month. “Everything is OK now,” he said. “I want to continue building my condition through the Tour de Suisse and do my best work for the team.”
