BMC Signs Oss and Nerz

The BMC Racing Team has signed Dominik Nerz and Daniel Oss for the 2013 season, President/General Manager Jim Ochowicz announced Monday.

Classics And Grand Tour Specialists

Ochowicz said the two riders will be strong contributors to the BMC Racing Team in both the Classics and the Grand Tours. “Daniel is qualified to ride all of the early-season classic races and any of the Grand Tours,” Ochowicz said. “Dominic is more of a climber and will be equally as productive for the team in some of the Ardennes Classics, as well as the Grand Tours. We’re happy to have them joining us for 2013.” Both riders played a part in helping Liquigas-Cannondale earn the green, points classification jersey at this year’s Tour de France. In keeping with BMC Racing Team policy, no terms of either riders’ contracts were announced.

Oss Past USAPCC Stage Winner

Nerz, 22, was runner-up at Rund um den Finanzplatz in his home country of Germany and finished fifth at GP Miguel Indurain. “I’m so happy about this because I think the BMC Racing Team is the best team of the world,” he said. “So for me it’s perfect. I hope that I can do one of the Grand Tours next year.” Oss, 25, won Stage 6 of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge last year and has nine top 10 finishes to his credit this season, including ninth at Milan-San Remo. “I’m looking forward to new goals and new experiences,” the Italian said. “It will also be nice to reunite with two former teammates, Manuel Quinziato and Ivan Santaromita. We’re all happy to be back together.”
