BMC Racing Team Takes Aim At Lugano

Sunday’s edition of Gran Premio Città di Lugano in Switzerland is an opportunity for the BMC Racing Team to showcase itself on a challenging course, BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Max Sciandri said.

Evans Pleased With Start
The BMC Racing Team’s roster includes four riders (Brent Bookwalter, Steve Cummings, Cadel Evans and Philippe Gilbert) who were part of the team classification victory at the Tour of Oman. Evans and teammate Ivan Santaromita, who both live nearby, will benefit from knowing much of the 186.3-kilometer course, Sciandri said. “There’s a new climb on the circuit that’s only four or five-hundred meters but it’s super hard,” he said. “But the guys are prepared and have been racing left and right, so we’re prepared to do well and looking for a good result.” Gilbert said he is building on his form. “For the moment, I am good,” the reigning world road champion said. “But my main goal is to be good for the Ardennes Classics the last week of April.” Evans, who was third overall at Oman, said he is also pleased with his early-season form. “If you start well, it puts you in a good frame of mind, it puts your team in a good frame of mind and gives confidence to your teammates,” he said.
