The stage race Tour of Hainan has concluded in Sanya. The final stage ended in a bunch sprint, with no changes in the General Classification. As a result, XDS Astana Team rider Thomas Silva, who took over the race lead the day before after his second stage victory, became the overall winner of the Tour of Hainan 2026.
“I’m very happy with this success. We had a great race – the whole team worked in perfect harmony throughout the week, everything came together, and today we celebrate the overall victory. This is an important win for me, and I’m truly happy to bring it to XDS Astana Team. Now it’s time for all of us to celebrate this success together”, – said Thomas Silva.
“We know this race very well, so we understood what challenges to expect and were prepared for them. We tried to select the most balanced lineup – riders capable of fighting for victory and those who could provide strong support. Of course, the extreme heat affected everyone, and the first days were not easy, but we managed it. We approached the key stages carefully, and in the end, everything worked out. This race and this result were important both for the team and for our sponsor XDS, so we are very pleased to take the victory. However, the season continues, with many important races ahead, so we return to Europe in a good mood”, – said Dmitri Sedun.
Another XDS Astana Team rider, Nikolas Vinokurov, finished the race in 6th place and also won the blue jersey as the best Asian rider of the race.
