Soudal Quick-Step Racing in Spain This Week

A mix of World Tour and Devo riders are set to compete for the Wolfpack in the coming days.

21-Jan-2026: The team’s European debut this season will take place in Spain, where they have won a total of 94 races since the squad’s inception, and among the riders who are set to kick off their campaign there will be Paul Magnier. One of the most successful riders of 2025, with 19 victories in his palmares, the Frenchman is set to lead the squad at the last of these appointments, Classica Comunitat Valenciana, whose course should be very much to the sprinters’ liking.

Gil Gelders, Dries Van Gestel, Louis Vervaeke, and neo-pro Jonathan Vervenne are the other four World Tour riders in action on Spanish soil, where also a total of eight Devo Team members will race between Friday and Sunday: Henrique Bravo, Ceriel Desal, Federico Savino, Jasper Schoofs, Viktor Soenens, Matijs Van Strijthem, Stan Van Tricht, and Erazem Valjavec.

Classica Camp de Morvedre, Gran Premio Castellon and the aforementioned Classica Comunitat Valenciana will be a nice opportunity for the riders to test their legs after the winter and the team’s two training camps in Calpe, the terrain offering chances to both the fast men and the attackers.

“Morvedre marks our first race on European soil this season, and the course is a demanding one, featuring the steep La Frontera twice in the last 50 kilometers. Castellon has a more rolling profile and gives opportunities for a breakaway to go all the way, but the finale with that climb and the uphill finish will be where it will be decided.”

“Valencia offers a clear chance for sprinters to fight for victory, despite the presence of the well-known Coll de Rates in the first part of the race. We bring a strong squad in order to give Paul the best possible support there. At the same time, several young riders are on the squad, and it will be good for them to gain experience and to play an active role in positioning and lead-out”, said Soudal Quick-Step sports director Kevin Hulsmans.
