Alula Tour 2026 : An Odyssey at the Heart of the Desert’s Jewels

On the occasion of the 6th edition of the AlUla Tour, which will take place from January 27 to 31 in Saudi Arabia, the AlUla region is once again preparing to become the stage for an exceptional sporting and natural spectacle. Contested over five stages, the cycling race will showcase the spectacular landscapes and the unique heritage of this millennia-old oasis, with a total route of 800 kilometers. This top-level event, now registered on the 2026 UCI ProSeries calendar, will lead the peloton through AlUla’s most emblematic natural and heritage sites, turning the competition into a true journey through a monumental desert.

A ROUTE AT THE HEART OF AN OPEN-AIR MUSEUM

At each stage, the riders will pass through AlUla’s iconic panoramas:

Monumental sandstone cliffs, naturally sculpted over time, forming one of the most striking desert landscapes on the Arabian Peninsula.
The plateaus and rugged terrain around Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage site, bearing witness to the grandeur of the Nabataean civilization.
Renowned for their archaeological richness, outstanding natural beauty, and unspoiled tranquility, these sites represent one of AlUla’s major tourist assets.

A VARIED AND SPECTACULAR ROUTE: 5 STAGES – 800 KM

Stage 1 – Tuesday, January 27 – 158 km

AlUla Camel Cup Track ➜ AlUla Camel Cup Track

This opening stage will start from the iconic camel racing venue, offering long straight sections suited to sprinters and revealing the vast expanses of the AlUla desert. The stage will also provide an opportunity to discover AlUla Film Camp Studio. Nestled within one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world, AlUla Studios is designed to host film and television productions of all sizes.

Stage 2 – Wednesday, January 28 – 152 km

AlManshiyah Train Station ➜ AlManshiyah Train Station

A loop route around the former Hijaz Railway station, a symbol of the region’s railway heritage. The course winds around Winter Park and the surrounding valleys, alternating between fast, flowing roads and gentle undulations. This stage will also offer the opportunity to discover Dadan, a major archaeological site in the region. The route will additionally circle Hegra and pass by the new hotel-restaurant The Chedi, a former station transformed into a restaurant and museum, further strengthening the historical connection with AlManshiyah Train Station.

Stage 3 – Thursday, January 29 – 142.1 km

Winter Park ➜ Bir Jaydah Wirkah Mountain

A more demanding stage taking the riders from the outskirts of Winter Park to the slopes of Bir Jaydah Wirkah Mountain, an ideal terrain for puncheurs, featuring the first real challenges of the Tour. The route will also follow the AlUla Oasis Heritage Trail, offering riders and spectators alike a glimpse of the region’s lush landscapes and historic heritage.

Stage 4 – Friday, January 30 – 184 km

Winter Park ➜ Shalal Sijlyat Rocks

The longest stage of this edition. After a gentle start amid the greenery of Winter Park, the peloton ventures onto the vast plateaus leading to the Shalal Sijlyat Rocks, a spectacular rocky massif forming one of the most impressive panoramas in the region. The route will complete a full loop of the Sharaan Nature Reserve, offering total immersion in unspoiled natural landscapes, before passing once again by Hegra and The Chedi. This stage will also give riders and spectators the opportunity to discover Hegra, the most significant preserved site of the Nabataean civilization, notably featuring monumental tombs with decorated façades dating mainly from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD.

Stage 5 – Saturday, January 31 – 163.9 km

AlUla Old Town ➜ Skyviews of Harrat Uwayrid

A prestigious finale weaving through the historic alleyways of AlUla Old Town, the neighboring oasis, and the volcanic heights of Harrat Uwayrid. A decisive stage where climbers will have the opportunity to shine on the slopes leading to the Skyviews, a must-see viewpoint overlooking the entire valley.

Throughout these five days, both on-site spectators and television viewers will be able to admire iconic locations such as:

Dadan, the ancient capital of the Lihyanite Kingdom
AlManshiyah Train Station, a remnant of the Hijaz Railway
Camel Cup Track, the site dedicated to camel racing
AlUla Film Camp Studio, AlUla’s new film studios
AlUla Old Town, the restored historic heart of the city
Elephant Rock, an iconic rock formation
Bir Jaydah Wirkah Mountain, a major natural landmark along the route
Shalal Sijlyat Rocks, a spectacular mineral massif
Skyviews of Harrat Uwayrid, an aerial panorama over the deserts and oases
Sharaan Nature Reserve, a protected natural area located in the Madinah Province
