The acclaimed documentary series The Least Expected Day returns with a new season that will once again showcase the team’s behind-the-scenes like never before.

Madrid, 11 December 2025. Movistar Team unveiled this Thursday, at the Aula Magistral of the Palau de Les Arts in Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences, its sporting project for the 2026 season. The presentation, which was also streamed live on the team’s official YouTube channel to bring it closer to fans, gathered sponsors, media representatives, prominent figures from the cycling world and institutional representatives.

Three teams, one shared purpose
The cycling structure with the longest history in the international peloton, sponsored by Telefónica, will face its 47th season in the world elite in 2026. During the event, the men’s, women’s and development team rosters were officially presented, reaffirming the project’s commitment to development, equality and high performance.

The men’s WorldTour squad will welcome this year Cian Uijtdebroeks (Belgium), Raúl García Pierna, Roger Adrià, Juanpe López (Spain) and Pavel Novák (Czech Republic). On the women’s side, the main new signing is Italian rider Francesca Barale.

World time-trial champion Marlen Reusser will debut her rainbow jersey in time-trial events, while Iván Romeo and Sara Martín will wear their Spanish national champion kits.

In addition, the team officially introduced the new development initiative Movistar Team Academy, a platform designed to strengthen its commitment to identifying and nurturing young talent across all cycling categories.

A new jersey for a new era
The event was also the stage for the unveiling of the new GOBIK-designed jersey. For Movistar Team’s new kit, GOBIK sought a futuristic aesthetic, an evolution that projects innovation and performance on a white base. Technological textures, iridescent graphics and subtle transparencies were combined to create a striking design that reflects the identity and avant-garde spirit of the team.

The design is built on the Nexflow jersey, developed exclusively for the team. Its aerodynamic, ultra-minimalist structure, along with special sleeve fabric that optimizes airflow and seamless bonding finishes, provides speed and a perfect fit, a jersey built for races where every second and aerodynamic efficiency are decisive.

The Least Expected Day returns in 2026
The Least Expected Day, an original TBS series, will be available in Spain on Movistar Plus+ starting in January.

Movistar Team confirmed the long-awaited return of The Least Expected Day, the documentary series that has allowed viewers to experience from the inside the challenges and emotions of professional cycling. The fifth season will premiere in 2026 and will once again showcase the most human and competitive side of the team.

New strategic agreement with CUPRA
During the gala, the team also announced a new collaboration agreement with CUPRA, which joins as the team’s official vehicle provider. This alliance strengthens Movistar Team’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and advanced mobility.

Supporting grassroots cycling after the DANA storms
The event welcomed several cycling schools affected by the recent DANA storm system, which Movistar Team visited last year. The team paid tribute to them and reiterated its support for grassroots sport and for the recovery of damaged facilities.

Institutional statements

Borja Ochoa, President of Telefónica Spain, stated:: “Movistar Team is one of Telefónica’s great symbols. It is not only our longest-standing sponsorship; it is an alliance that represents who we are: collective work, innovation and the ability to reach every home. Every cyclist carries the Movistar ‘M’ on their jersey, a history and set of values that define us, and we trust they will defend it with professionalism, commitment and team spirit.”

Meanwhile, Eusebio Unzué, General Manager of Abarca Sports, said:“We face an exciting new season alongside Telefónica, confirming its commitment to this project we have shared for so many years. We enter a renewed and ambitious stage, marked by the arrival of key signings who will strengthen our competitiveness across all terrains and give new momentum to the team’s sporting structure.”
