Star-studded field in Andora: Yana Belomoina heads to Italy

Neff chasing Belomoina

The CST PostNL Befang MT Team led by the 28-year-old Ukrainian rider further strengthens the startlist of Internazionali d’Italia Series stage 1

The entry list of Andora Race Cup, the opening event of Internazionali d’Italia Series scheduled on Sunday, March 7th in Andora (Liguria, Italy), keeps shaping in a very promising way. Indeed, the racing field is increasingly similar to a World Cup event, as more top-level teams keep confirming their presence: latest in time, the CST PostNL Befang MT Team, under the guidance of Bart Brentjens, led by former European Champion Yana Belomoina. The Dutch team has chosen the Ligurian Riviera for an early-season training camp and is looking forward to the opening of Internazionali d’Italia Series (C.1 category) for a first top-level test with very tough competition.

“I look forward to racing in Andora. I love competing at Internazionali d’Italia Series. The organization and atmosphere around are always at the highest level” – said the 28-year-old Ukrainian, winner of the Cross Country World Cup in 2017. Belomoina is not new to the Internazionali d’Italia Series courses: in 2019, she took part in Nals and La Thuile stages, and she was fascinated by the cheering of the Italian crowd. “It’s a shame to race without fans at our side. The Italian fans are special: we will miss them, but there are no alternatives in this critical juncture.”

In Italy, Belomoina will be supported by a solid teammate like Anne Tauber, and will find a long-time rival on the Ligurian course, Swiss Jolanda Neff. “When I plan my seasonal schedule, I like to focus on good training and high-level races for the first part of the year” – said the Ukrainian rider. “I want to find my best form by exploiting all the opportunities, even more so after so many races were canceled last year. With Anne’s support, I will look to target a podium finish in Andora.”

In addition to Belomoina and Tauber, the CST PostNL Befang MT Team will line up at Andora Race Cup with South-African Mariske Strauss. In the men’s race, Dane Sebastian Fini and Latvian Martin Blums will be the Dutch team leaders, whilst Dutch David Nordemann and Jeroen Van Eck round out a solid line-up.

Andorra Race Cup will take place on Sunday, March 7th, with the races of all the Internazionali d’Italia Series categories: Elite, U23 and Juniors, both Men and Women.
