2013 Giro del Trentino News

37th Giro del Trentino finalized the last missing stage in the race program-the stage 3 finish at Condino. Condino is a typical village in Valle del Chiese, forming a part of Valli Giudicarie. GS Alto Garda organizers finalized the agreement with this small Trentino city – which never hosted such a major event.

“We’re extremely happy and excited by this unbelievable opportunity given to our small city and the whole Valle del Chiese – Condino mayor Giorgio Butterini said. The Trentino area has to be appraised further but TV cameras may definitively highlight our landscapes’ beauty at their best. We expect our local community to give riders, teams and fans the warmest welcome”.

Placed between the 4-day race’s most demanding stages – with Vetriolo Terme and Sega di Ala uphill finish – stage 3 starts from Pergine Valsugana over 170 km to cross Albiano, Lavis, S. Michele all’Adige, Mezzolombardo and Fai della Paganella, a 3rd category climb where Colombian Fabio Duarte clinched the stage win two years ago.

Race goes straight through Andalo, Molveno, Comano, Fiavé, Passo del Ballino, descending toward Tenno until Riva del Garda. Then climbing up to Val di Ledro and Storo the race will cross the finish line a first time ahead of the last category-three climb at Daone to eventually tackle final slope toward Pieve di Bono and Condino.

A mid-difficult stage that should suit sprinters coming, mostly in the last hour-and-half around Valle del Chiese, a well-known holiday resort, full of natural beauty (Daone valley and Boniprati’s upland) and typical regional products.

The 37th Giro del Trentino program has been completed with the grand departure in Austria and the last stage from Arco up to unknown Sega di Ala ascent.
