2010 Tour de France Teams Announced PDF Print E-mail

The 22 Teams for this year's Tour de France have been announced.

AG2r-La Mondiale, Astana, Bbox Bouygues Telecom, Caisse d'épargne, Cofidis, HTC-Columbia, Euskaltel, Française des Jeux, Footon-Servetto, Lampre, Liquigas, Milram, Omega-pharma Lotto, Quick Step, Rabobank, Saxo bank, RadioShack, Team Sky, Katusha, Garmin-Transitions, Cervélo Test Team, BMC.

There are expected to be only around 30 French riders.  The composition of the peloton will be more international.  Four of the teams are American.

2011 Tour de France PDF Print E-mail
The Tour de France has announced the depart for the 2011 race.  It will start about 150 meters off the continent near Noirmoutier on July 2.  Ile Noirmoutier was the start of the 2005 race.  They will finish with a climb on Mont des Alouettes near Les Herbiers.  Stage 2 will be a team time trial around Les Essarts and stage 3 will leave from Olonne-sur-Mer in the Vendee region on the west coast of France.
 
2010 Tour de France Route Unveiled PDF Print E-mail

The 2010 Tour de France route was unveiled in Paris this week.  The race starts in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on July 3 with a prologue.  Then the race will head over some cobblestones into Brussels, Belgium before crossing back into France.  The race will make its way through the north of France into the Alps with a rest day in Morzine.  Two more mountain stages through Saint Jean de Maurienne and then Chambery to Gap before heading into the Massif Central and then the Pyrenees.  There will be 4 high mountain stages in the Pyrenees, including the Tourmalet twice.  A long 51k time trial around Bordeaux before the final parade into Paris on the Champs Elysee.

Biological Passport PDF Print E-mail

Twenty five days before the start of the Tour de France on July 4, a joint announcement from the UCI, AFLD and ASO willl be made.  They will be announcing the names of the first riders to be convicted of doping based on their biological passport discrepancies.  The announcement will be made in Paris this coming Wednesday.  Pat McQuaid of the UCI said first the riders will be informed on Monday and then their teams and national federations.  Some will have disciplinary actions taken against them.
