Joaquim Rodriguez on Col de la Croix NeuveCol de la Croix Neuve, Mende, France

A really hot day in the Massif Central with 3 small category 3 or 4 climbs before the cat 2 climb 2 k from the finish.  On the first climb things started to break apart.  On the second climb a group of 18 escaped.  Included were Vinokourov, Kloden, Hesjedal, Casar, Hushovd and Aerts.  A bit later Kloden attacked and was joined by Vinokourov, Hesjedal and Kiryienka.  Vinokourov was first up the last climb at Mende.  Contador and Rodriguez were together and Rodriguez won the stage after catching Vinokourov at about 2 k to go.  Andy Schleck is still in yellow.

Sorry to all the readers about the non-coverage of the Tour for a few days.  There's been a death in the family.  Coverage will return soon.

--

At the moment Tony Martin has the best time, but there are still 150 riders yet to go.  So far the rain isn't as bad as expected.

--

According the Wall Street Journal, Floyd Landis has made additional allegations against Lance Armstrong. Three other former USPS teammates who which to remain anonymous, have corroborated that there was systematic doping.    Armstrong of course harpoons Landis' credibility.  UCI President Pat Mc Quaid called it a personal vendetta on Landis' part.

--

A number of top cyclists including Levi Leipheimer, Dave Zabriske, Christian Vandevelde, Tony Martin and Bradley Wiggins have opted to take an early prologue start tomorrow to avoid heavy rainstorms that are predicted.  Armstrong, Contador, Cancellara and Basso will take their scheduled times at the end.
